Body Protection Compound-157, PL 14736
A stable pentadecapeptide derived from a protective sequence in human gastric juice, and the single most-cited compound in tendon, ligament and gut repair models.
What the literature describes
BPC-157 is a 15-amino-acid sequence isolated from a larger body protection compound found in human gastric juice. In published animal work it has been reported to accelerate healing across a wide range of injured tissues — transected Achilles tendon, damaged ligament, muscle, and gastrointestinal mucosa. Investigators have linked its activity to the promotion of fibroblast outgrowth and migration via the FAK–paxillin pathway, upregulation of the growth hormone receptor in tendon fibroblasts, and a strong angiogenic response mediated in part through VEGFR2 and the nitric oxide system. It is notable in the literature for retaining stability in gastric juice without a carrier.
