Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly (AEDG-related cartilage bioregulator)
A short peptide bioregulator from the Khavinson series, studied in cartilage and connective-tissue models.
What the literature describes
Cartalax belongs to the family of short peptide bioregulators developed at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology. The underlying research programme proposes that very short peptides interact with specific DNA sequences and histones to modulate gene expression in a tissue-selective manner. Published work in this series reports osteoprotective effects of cartilage-derived peptide preparations in ageing rats, and broader investigation of short peptides in telomere biology. Note that the evidence base for this compound class is smaller and more geographically concentrated than for the peptides above — much of it is published in Russian-language journals.
