Thymosin β-4 fragment (Ac-SDKP related)
The synthetic analogue of thymosin beta-4, the principal actin-sequestering peptide in eukaryotic cells and a long-studied regulator of tissue repair.
What the literature describes
Thymosin beta-4 (Tβ4) is the major G-actin-sequestering molecule in mammalian cells. Its actin-binding domain has been mapped to the sequence that TB-500 reproduces. Published work reports that Tβ4 accelerates re-epithelialisation, upregulates matrix metalloproteinase expression during remodelling, acts as a chemoattractant for myoblasts after muscle injury, and promotes angiogenesis through its actin-binding site. In rodent incisional wound models, locally applied Tβ4 healed with minimal scarring and no loss of wound breaking strength.
